About
“Imagination is tapping into the subconscious in a form of open play. That is why art or music therapy, which encourages a person to take up brushes and paint or an instrument, and just express themselves, is so powerful.”
― Phil 'Philosofree' Cheney

“Creating artwork allows your mind to be in a safe place while it contemplates the tougher issues you are dealing with. One can use the tools of brush, paint, pastels, crayons etc to expose and even for a short time color those issues in a different light.”
― George E. Miller

Farfelu Gallery
Founded as a non-profit in Knowlton in 1984 and relocated to Sutton 8 1/2 years later, Farfelu was conceived as a place for often isolated Quebec artisans to meet, exchange ideas and information and get feedback on their work from the other members in the co-op, and also as as a showcase for their work, a place for it to be displayed and sold while sharing the cost and workload of running a boutique.
At Galerie Farfelu we are diverse, inclusive and ready to talk about it; Farfelu is all about diversity, conversation, inclusiveness, technique and more.
In the early years Farfelu was also a place where individual artisans could actually work, giving the local and visiting public a chance to watch and learn more about how they create their products. Workshops are still often given at Farfelu, and there is a monthly exhibit/vernissage in the display room for new and established artists to exhibit and sell their work, give demonstrations and find a wider audience for their craft. It's a great place to visit if you ever find yourself in the area, open Thursday to Monday all year long. -

Galerie d'Art Nadia Heppell
Nadia Heppell's brick and mortar gallery. can be found at 80 rue Principale ouest, Magog, Quebec.
Born in Ulan-Ude, a Siberian city, Nadia moved to the United States at the age of 22. Having lived and traveled extensively around the world, she now resides with her family in Las Vegas and Magog, QC, Canada. Nadia has been painting professionally for over fifteen years, experimenting with various mediums and styles. She has developed a distinct style that is best represented in her "Naive People" series. Change is a central theme in her work, as she constantly seeks new colors, ideas, and images to renew herself as an artist and avoid becoming a mere craftsman.
As a mother of two, Nadia draws inspiration from her children, each bringing new dimensions to her art. When her son was young, she wrote and illustrated a book for him, which was published by a Brazilian publisher while they were living in Brazil. The book is available for purchase here. Currently, she is working on a new children's book. With the birth of her daughter, Nadia's work became more feminine, with themes focusing on beautiful women, magical girls, and enchanting flora.
